DSRT Club $$-$$$

The DSRT Club (yes, it is said Desert Club) brings a well-done classic, vintage touch to Old Town La Quinta dining. The atmosphere has always been very quiet while we were there unless you get a very vocal group nearby. A milky green glass motif in the glasses and décor is very relaxing as is the entire restaurant. A spacious outdoor patio dining area greets visitors and is especially inviting during cool weather or brunch on Sunday street fair days. The DSRT Club has a fascinating menu that changes seasonally so check on-line for the latest fare. If they have the meat loaf…get it, it’s wrapped in phylo. One of my favorites is Mussels steeped in fennel, dijon, Chablis, basil aioli and served with crispy garlic bread. A true taste sensation. I actually takehome the leftover broth and marinate pork chops or chicken thighs in it for a special treat. My friends have enjoyed the Desert Club Jamba which is prawns, andouille sausage, sweet cajun broth, toasted tomato rice and scallions. Another favorite of us all when available is the Crispy Skin Branzino, toasted romesco sauce, watercress, grilled lemon and roasted cauliflower. Service has always been excellent, prompt but not over-bearing and the staff really knows it’s entrees and wine. The Desert Club bar area is especially inviting for drinks and appetizers.

A fun location for dinner with friends. Not overly fancy, but classy. There is plenty of street parking and a large lot across the street
