Oceana Palm Desert $$-$$$

I have to start with a line from their website “ Let the flavors of Oceana Restaurant transport you to a seaside oasis in the desert, where each bite is a thoughtful creation of fresh seafood, juicy steaks, and craft cocktails. ” They are correct.  A very unique, stylish seafood restaurant with patio, inside and bar seating. I always get reservations, especially in-season and weekends. It can get crowded. Seating has always been quick and gracious. Our server came over rapidly with water and a tasty starter of jicama, cucumber and cherry tomatoes. The wine list is very well curated, but can get pricey. We started with a shared shrimp cocktail sporting a five large shrimp and cocktail sauce. The shrimp were super fresh, colossal in my view, and tasty. As an entrée, my friend selected the Shrimp Diablo…he was warned it was very spicy and it was! I chose one of my favorites, the Shrimp Romano which came with a light butter garlic sauce, shaved aged Romano and al dente vegetables. For non-seafood lovers, Oceana has a good selection of meats including pork, chicken, and steaks. But, of course, the fish stands out and if you crave octopus, this is your place for sure. We even had a visit from the chef, who explained the sauce ingredients. Service was prompt, but not aggressive.

Plenty of parking, but you may have a short walk as there are several nearby eateries.
