The Local on 50th $$

Craft Bites & Barrels

As we arrived at The Local (formerly Camden Cellars), the enhanced outdoor seating with tables immediately showed the re-design is customer friendly. This dog-friendlyarea is a comfortable addition in cool weather and has several large-screen TVs. While the name, interior color scheme and added bar TV’s are new, the warm smiles and greetings are still there. The co-owner, Joey, and many of the staff are mostly unchanged. We had reservations and were immediately seated. Reservations are recommended on weekends and when they have a wine tasting, trivia or music. Our group ordered selections from the diverse, seasonally up-dated menu, starting with oysters, chicken tenders, beet salad and a charcuterie board. Service was prompt and all were exceptionally prepared, tasty and abundant. Entrees were equally well-platedincluding pasta with vodka sauce, grilled salmon and, of course, their Award-Winning burgundy burger with a shared-by-all side of perfect shoestring fries, optional truffle style. The Local sound level can get a bit energetic when crowded or during wine tastings, but it is expected with the friendly, conversational group. The Local serves a well curated selection of wines and brews as well as having a full, well-curated bar available.

This was not our first visit to The Local and it sure won’t be the last. Perfect gastro-pub style for lunch, Happy Hour with wine and food specials, or dinner with friends. Check the website for the newest seasonal menu items. Look into their wine club, wine dinnersand trivia nights.  Children under 12 selections at Happy Hour pricing. Plenty of close parking with handicap access. This is a friendly, Local dining spot!

Ps. – Stopped by on a Saturday. Really good breakfast burrito.
